Editing |
The following are pieces I edited for various school and work assignments. For most of the pieces, I edited according to principles of grammar and usage found in The Chicago Manual of Style, but some of the pieces used other style guides, such as the Style Guide of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or style guides specific to individual organizations.
Article Edit
As a student editor for the David O. McKay School's Public Relations Team, I edit webpages and articles written by the team's PR interns. This was an edit I did for an article highlighting BYU's 2017 Autism Conference. I used Track Changes and Comments to revise and comment on the article, and I edited according to The Chicago Manual of Style and the organization's individualized style guide.
Chapter Copyedit
This was a chapter from a book manuscript on Monet's scientific approach to art, which I edited as a group project for a book publishing class. I did a copyedit for concise wording and correct usage using the principles found in The Chicago Manual of Style.
Magazine Article Edit
I substantively edited this summary article while I was an associate editor with Mormon Insights, a student-run, online magazine that highlights articles written by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I edited this piece for clarity, cohesion, and flow.
Chapter Proofreading
These are images of the editing I did while proofreading a chapter in John S. Tanner's Learning in the Light, a collection of devotionals he gave while serving as the academic vice president of BYU. I proofread using principles of grammar and usage found in The Chicago Manual of Style and the Style Guide of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I also checked for final formatting issues such as word stacks, contractions, rivers, and leading issues.
